Yuzawa Tanabata Lantern Festival
August 5-7
See lanterns decorated with traditional Ukiyo-e images or pictures of beautiful women in Japanese costumes, along with the hundreds of wishes of local residents hanging from bamboo fences. Some people wear traditional yukata clothing, and the city overflows with a unique festival atmosphere, the climax of which is the passionate drumming and traditional flute sounds of the Yuzawa Nanke Satake Daiko drummers.
